I am Kyle Berkompas.
Growing up, I was always inspired by documentary style cinema – specifically action sport films. This style of filmmaking felt elusive and required high levels of skill and advanced access to nature and equipment. I attended Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI where I earned a degree in Media Production. I moved to Boulder and worked at Sender Films and SparkShop where I honed my craft on big productions like The Dawn Wall, Valley Uprising, The Reel Rock Film Tour and other documentaries. I even produced a few of my own feature length climbing films, Exposure Vol. 1 & 2. In 2016 I transitioned to the Deloitte Studios Production Team at Deloitte, creating videos for corporate clients. Currently, I'm working as a freelance editor and cinematographer. I lived in Boulder & Denver, CO for 10 years, spending 2 years in Portland, OR prior to relocating to Los Angeles, CA in 2022.
My work experience ranges from high-end commercial productions to rugged backcountry shoots. My goal is to tell authentic, character-driven stories that inspire, engage, and delight an audience. I believe that there is no substitute for hard work and dedication and strive to constantly provide my clients with the highest quality video content that brings their visions to vivid life. In my spare time I enjoy traveling, lifting really light weights, watching movies and trying not to suck at golf. I live with my dog Oslo and fiancé Brogan.
